The 2009-2014 World Outlook for Automotive Parts and Accessories Dealers

This econometric study covers the world outlook for automotive parts and accessories dealers across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for automotive parts and accessories dealers. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world’s regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business.

Tork wiper products on their way to aid the gulf oil spill disaster relief efforts – SCA
Automotive Tools & Equipment

Image by SCA Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget
SCA is donating more than USD 200,000 worth of Tork wiper products. The wipers will be used by volunteer groups to aid the Gulf oil spill disaster relief efforts.

The Tork wipers will be used onboard Strike Force recovery boats to help sanitize equipment, clean deck machinery and tools and also aid in general cleaning applications such as hand washing for onsite volunteers along the coastline. The Strike Force boats are the front lines of defence and clean-up in the Gulf Coast, working with whatever means necessary to recover oiled areas.

Tork wipers are typically used in manufacturing, automotive and other industrial environments, to absorb large spills, grease and grime. The product’s application features make the wipers an ideal resource to aid in the recovery and clean-up in the Gulf.

“Supporting the Gulf oil spill clean-up is one of the many ways we demonstrate our long-standing commitment to improving the environment, while showing we care for the communities where we live and operate”, said Don Lewis, President of SCA’s tissue operations in North America.

The donation goes to Gifts In Kind International – an organisation that assists companies like SCA in donating products to help with the recovery from the Gulf oil spill. The donated products will be used by the Greater New Orleans Disaster Recovery Partnership (GNODRP) – a coalition of 70 plus member agencies including faith-based, non-profits, government liaisons and long term recovery organizations serving those impacted by the 2005 hurricanes in the Greater New Orleans region.

EUKOR is one of the world’s largest shipping companies specialized in transporting automobiles and other rolling cargo. We proudly deliver tailor-made ocean transportation and logistics services of the highest quality to the global automotive industry. Our base is the export of Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors from Korea but we also serve most of the other global automotive leaders including Daimler Chrysler, Volkswagen, Volvo, BMW, General Motors, Ford, Mazda and Suzuki.

EUKOR directly operates about 85 specialised vessels, and has 15-20 further ships on short-term arrangements at any given point in time – annually transporting over 3 million cars to 160 different ports in 110 countries, utilising a global network of offices and agents.

Through continuous expansion of our route network, minimising transit times, utmost attention to cargo-handling quality and a strong dedication to cost savings for our customers, we strive towards delivering complete customer satisfaction. Ultimately, we aim to achieve our vision of becoming the best shipping company for the global automotive industry.

Since EUKOR’s inception in 2002, following the acquisition of the car carrier division of Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), we believe we have managed to combine the best of what Korea and Europe have to offer. Having Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors as shareholders (20%) gives us a unique growth platform within the industry. Add to that the shareholdings of Norwegian shipping giant Wilhelmsen Lines (40%) with its vast shipping experience dating back to 1861 and leading Swedish shipping group Wallenius Lines (40%) – pioneers in car carrier operations since the 1950s – and we have created a company with world class competencies.

With our global team of highly skilled transportation professionals, we confidently take on every challenge that the automotive industry requires. We, at EUKOR, firmly believe that nothing is impossible. The opportunity lies in the challenge.

l VESSEL SCOPE
Currently, we have a fleet of about 85 modern car carriers (PCCs) and specialized car and truck carriers (PCTCs). In order to provide the highest level of customized car carrier service, we are operating various fleet capacities from a 1,200 unit PCC to a 6,400 unit PCTC. The 6,400 unit capacity PCTCs are
equipped with 4 hoisting decks, a maximum 6.70 meter deck clearance and a ramp capacity of 150 tons. We have an ongoing rejuvenation plan for our fleet with a considerable number of new vessels joining us over the next few years.

l SERVICE ROUTE Across the oceans to every corner of the globe, to any location specified by customers, we carry cargo with precision and great care. We make every effort to provide both the most effective and safe carrier service globally with a worldwide service network connecting around 160 ports. Main trades are from Asia to Europe, Asia to North America, Asia to South and Central America, Asia to Middle East and Africa, Asia to Pacific Area, Intra Asia
as well as Europe to Middle East and Europe back to East Asia.

l TYPES OF CARGO
Annually more than 2.7 million ceu’s (Car Equivalent Units) of rolling cargo are transported for world famous manufacturers including Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors as well as Volvo, Saab, Land Rover, Ford, Jaguar, Porsche, Volkswagen, Chrysler, Renault, Opel, BMW, Scania, Caterpillar, John Deere, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Mazda. In addition, we stand firmly as a leading carrier
of Ro-Ro and heavy cargo. There is virtually no limit to our capabilities of transporting all types of cargo that either rolls by itself or can be put on wheels, i.e., large-sized trucks, buses, construction and agricultural equipment, cranes, yachts, windturbines, machine tools, aircrafts and tanks.

l EUKOR Car Carriers – World’s Best Shipping Company
In the 21st century, we, EUKOR Car Carriers, have ventured into the world shipping market equipped with a “can-do” attitude, with the highest quality standards, and innovative management. We plan to provide all our customers with complete satisfaction by surpassing customer expectations when it comes
to service, quality, safety and environmental care. We provide either port-to-port services utilizing our specialized vessels or complete door-to-door supply chain management services for cars in order to maximize cost savings.
